Auto Glass Week Starts September 27, 2018

NOVUS Glass is one of the sponsors of Auto Glass Week, a conference for auto glass owners, technicians, vendors and manufacturers in the automotive glass industry. The conference starts on Thursday, September 27 and goes through Saturday, September 29th, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

One of the highlights of this year’s conference will be the first-ever Auto Glass Technician Calibration Competition.According to the Auto Glass Week competition coordinator Tricia Lopez, this competition will focus on the methods and technology needed for calibrations with auto glass replacements because of the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). ADA Systems were designed to increase car safety by automating and enhancing vehicle systems. Registration for the competition is closed but conference attendees can help winners celebrate. The first-place winner will receive $5,000 and bragging rights as the “World’s Best Auto Glass Calibration Technician.” The Auto Glass Technician Calibration Competition joins three other competitions: Auto Glass Technician Completion (AGTO), Windshield Repair Competition (WRO), and Auto Glass Customer Service Representative Competition (CSR).

The Henry B. Gonzalez Exhibition Hall 4 will be full of vendors and demonstrations all three days. Learning opportunities abound. The Keynote speaker is Michael Robinson, CEO of ED Design, who will talk about the future of auto glass design. Seminar topics include: “How Technology will Change Aftermarket Liability,” “Trends in Auto Glass Insurance Claims,” “Turning Price Shoppers into Sales,” and more. In addition, The National Windshield Repair Association (NWRA) will again offer technician training, open to everyone registered to attend Auto Glass Week.

TV celebrity Richard Rawlings will be available for a Q&A session, titled “Running Your Business Loud and Fast.” Rawlings, who hosts Fast N’ Loud on the Discovery Channel and is the owner of Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, will discuss his business, which he started with nothing but a vision. Fans of his popular TV show about his full-service car restoration business will enjoy a chance to see him in person.

Sponsors of Auto Glass Week feel there is tremendous value in learning from others in your industry and offer a number of opportunities to meet and mingle. If you arrive on Wednesday, you can take part in the TPC San Antonio, an 18-hole scramble. The golf tournament is preceded by a buffet lunch. On Thursday evening there is a San Antonio pub crawl to a number of Riverwalk hot spots. If you check the attendees’ brochure, you’ll also see several cocktail parties, a charity auction, networking meet-ups, and the closing awards party. One lucky attendee will also win a brand-new truck! More information about the conference, including registration and hotel information, is available here: Auto Glass Week.
